La Mastineria is situated at 500
meters from the centre of Plan de la Tour, a typical small Provencal
village (2200 inh) with a lively atmosphere in summer. The village
has 2 groceries, butcher, baker, pharmacy, a choice of restaurants
in all price ranges. A weekly market on Thursday morning with
extended number of stalls and wares in the season. Two caves (wine
producers) where you can sample their offerings. The Massif des
Maures that rises beyond the village offers a marvellous opportunity
for walking, hiking, biking, horseback or any other way to enjoy
nature in this splendid mountain range.
Tennis, sailing, golf, kayaking, paragliding are among the many
activities you can pursue in the nearby area. |
The extended beaches at Ste Maxime
are at 8km. From there you can also choose to go along the coastal
road for any other beach of your choice. There's a splendid 18-hole
golf course at Ste Maxime. A large choice of other courses is just a
little farther away.
The perched Provencal villages of Grimaud, Ramatuelle or La
Garde-Freinet are less than 20 minutes away. Saint-Tropez is at 15
km.
A splendid daytrip can be made to one of the islands such as Port-Cros
or Porquerolles. The spectacular Gorges du Verdon are at 50 km.
In Plan de la Tour you have the best
of both worlds: the quiet natural hinterland with the Maures
mountains but also the sunny blue Mediterranean sea with its beaches
